Valentine's Day, Feburary 14th, has come to be known as the day when couples declare their undying love for each other and the day that singles dread. However, this doesn't have to be the case. It's possible to have your best Valentine's Day yet, even without having any romantic partner and I'm here to give you some tips on how to do just that!

1) Indulge in yourself
Far too often, we're so busy with work, school and whatever else we have to do that we forget to focus on ourselves. So take this Valentine's Day to do just that! Watch those netflix movies that you've been dying to watch and do it while eating that pint of ice cream that you've been eyeing in your fridge. Remember that before you fall in love with anyone else, you have to love yourself so spend Valentine's Day doing just that, treating yourself to everything your heart desires!
2) Have a Girls Night Out!
Going out to resturants or lurking on social media on this day is only going to make you feel like you are alone so do your best to avoid it altogether. Grab a group of your closest girl friends and go out dancing! Although you might not think you'll be in the mood for a night out, it will be a sure-fire way to get your mind off of Valentine's Day and you're unlikely to run into many love struck couples in this environment.

3) Make it a Day of Self Reflection
Instead of focusing on something (or someone) you don't have, focus on everything that you do have. Make this Valentine's Day and day of self-reflection, but only in the best way! Focus on your wants and needs out of a partner and in life. Once you know what your looking for, the process of finding someone to spend your life with will be so much easier. Plus, you might find that you aren't even looking for a relationship! A lot of singles get down on Valentine's Day becuase they don't have anyone but, a lot of times, it is just the day that gets people down, not the fact that they really want to be in a relationship.
4) Hang Out With Family!
This idea is my favorite! Family are those that are always there for you to lean on when you're in need. They will love you unconditionally, so who better to show your love to and spend Valentine's Day with?
5) Remind yourself that NOT every couple is happy
On the surface it might seem like everyone else in the world is happy, but you. However, this is far from true. Any couple can go out to a nice resturant on Valentine's Day and look like a l oving couple, having dinner. However, this does not mean that the other 364 days of the year they don't spend a good majority of their time fighting. No relationship is perfect and think about the fact that you might be happier alone than that couple is in their relationship.
6) Go to DisneyWorld!
This suggestion might seem a little childish but it is the happiest place on earth! So let your dreams come true and make way for the perfect alternative for the holiday.

7) Have a Sleepover With Your Best Friends!
Perhaps the sole reason that singles dread Valentine's Day is due to the fact that they feel as if they are alone. Therefore, the trick to not letting yourself be alone. Chances are you have a good number of single friends, so round everyone up and spend the whole day together, including the night! Sleepovers are a throwback to the old middle school days, which is fun in itself. You'll never get sad because you won't have time to and, if you do, you'll have friends there to cheer you up!
