Are you tired of attending the same type of wedding weekend to weekend? Do you want your wedding to be "different" than the others you've attended? If so, a destination wedding may be right for you!
Here are some ideas and tips for a destination wedding!
1. Decide on your location: look on websites like tripadvisor.com for real-people opinions of resorts. read through the reviews to get an overall impression of your destination choice.
2. Keep guests in mind: Questions you need to ask yourself before planning your destination wedding include can grandma/grandpa travel that far? Can guests afford airfare and resort stay?
3. Watch your numbers: Some resorts requre a certain number of guests to book the space; while other resorts only have a limited amount of space available for wedding ceremonies or receptions.
4. Know your destinations wedding rules: There may be residency requirements or paperwork needs that you cannot fulfill. Some couples have a legal union at home and a nonbinding ceremony at the destination site.
5. Figure out what is included in the package price: Some resorts only include the ceremony/reception site. Couples may have to pay extra for food, flowers, decor and more.
6. Hire an event planner: Decide if you want to do everything yourself, or if you want planning help or day-of help. It is highly suggested to have an event planner at a destination wedding, especially so you can concentrate on your big day!
7. Hairdresser, make up artist and photographer: These are all people that should travel with you to your destination. Unless you like to take chances, it is highly suggested to bring them along.
and finally...
8. Tell everyone you're getting married: When checking in for flights, or making hotel arrangements, make sure to let people know about the big day! Hopefully you'll be able to score a big upgrade, if available!
